I know this is a perenial topic, but after having read all the previous threads and tried myself, I am still not able to find the magic thing that I need to push to enable the ignition switch to be removed. I can see the rod/rack with teeth and the pinion that the ignition switch turns, as well as the spring steel tensioner that sits on top of the rod/rack, but what do I need to push to get the ignition switch free? The manual that I have just points in the general area of the top of the die cast mount. I do have a working key.

Im assuming you want to remove the actual barrell?
It is released by poking a tool into a vertical slot, about 1/2 inch long, by a couple of mm wide.
In most commodores, the worn tooling dies that made these bits see the slot often covered by casting |
