I have discovered my Hj statesman has the standard 2:78 ratio at first i thought Blaaah! but then going by fuel prices, the economy ratio may not be so bad as the car will be just a club cruiser. I think the 2:78 diffs may start to attract buyers for this reason instead of selling them off cheap , prices may start rising for these once snubbed ratios.

Most that are left are 2.6:1. These replaced 2.78 in large salisbury about HX from memory.

My HJ GTS running (tiredish) 350chev, TH350 and a 2.78 achieves around 12 litres to the 100Km. Slightly worse than tinpot Honda (8/100) but better than V6 Prado (14.5/100). Mates modern Falcon achieves 13/100, so I reckon not too bad.
