VT indicators not flashing normal hazard works

My car is a second-hand 1999 Holden Commodore VT Series 2 Executive station wagon. I've owned it since last year. It clocks at over 200,000km but still runs great (abiet getting new drive belt soon).
Anyway, recently the indicators have been strange. When I flick the indicator lever up or down, the light outside does not flash or does flash but at different rate. Might be fast or slow or steady on. If I turn the hazard mode on (the button that turns on all the indicators), they flash as normal as if they are fine.
What could be wrong? I am not really familar with cars but am learning.

Yes. When I press the hazard light button on the dash, all the indicators do flash normally as if they are working fine - regular flashing and at good intervals.
It's just that when I use the indicators to do turns in normal driving that sometimes it d

In my limited experience as i am only starting my vehicle mechanic apprentice is to check that all the lights are in securely. It doesn't explain why the lights stay on though, but does suggest you are getting a short.

Id be looking for a separate flasher can that runs just the indicators. If it has one, this will be the fault.

Hi ozgeek.
From memory they use the same flasher relay for the blinkers as they do for the hazard flashers.
My guess is the blinker switch itself is faulty. Ive replaced many of these on cars with similar symptoms.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

If the wiring is as the same at a vs the hazards are wired in to the indicators and cant work without the hazards plugged in.
