i need to put a new waterpump in my vl. im going to put a new timing belt in as well. ive been told that there is a timing belt kit for around $70. they said it doesnt have to go in with a new belt but a lot of people do. does any one no if i should get this kit or not worry about it?

hey cage000 i was told the same thing when i was doin one in my old vl i didnt change the belt and it was fine but if your planning to keep your car then i would probaly do the belt at the same time that way you know its done

do i need to get the kit which has a new tensioner or can i just put a new belt on

It depends on the condition of yours.

How many kms has it done, Does it feel smooth when run rotate it.

I would be inclined replace it, most VLs now have done at least 200,000 km, so it's probably due anyway.
