12v or 9v to coil?

Question is, will 12v to a standard points coil it be detrimental or beneficial? I still have the old 9v lead too, so I cun run either or both. Any advice appreciated. Cheers!

If you still have the original ballast wiring intact, use it with a resistor style coil & points. You could also use a standard 12V coil with your points dissy & wire to your 12 Volt supply. Don't use the HEI coil with points, the points
