Was talking with a friend the other day about "muscle cars". I know this has come up here before, and there is always arguments about what is and what isnt, and in fact probably nothing built here apart from maybe the XW Bill Bourke special even comes close to proper Yankee Muscle. This lead me to thinking about the actual definitive cars that we can put at the pinnacle of Australian built or Australian raced Muscle cars. Basically the best of the best. I've listed my handful, in no particular order. Any other suggestions eg some Chrysler product?

XW Bill Bourke special;
Norm Beechey's HT GTS350;
Alan Moffat's Coca Cola Mustang;
Bob Jane's ZL1 Camaro in 1969/70 427 guise;
Peter Brock's 1979 Bathurst winning A9X (simply by how dominant it was).
Pete Geoghan's XY Super Falcon;
2002 V2 7.0L winner of Bathurst 24hr race (#427).

Other possible contenders but probably won't make the cut:

Brock's 1984 Bathurst winning VK;
Dick Johnson's Greens Tuff XE Falcon;
Brock's VB 1979 Repco rally winner;
V8 LC XU-1 as raced by HDT as a prototype at Bathurst (easter 1972?);
Bob Morris's 1979 ATCC winning A9X.

Byron's list is for mostly unregistered race cars, so real US style street muscle doesn't get a mention, with the possible exception of Bill

id say the W427 is. its just a stupid-big engine in a car for no real reason.



love those racing R32 GTR's aswell. id love to get a nice aussie delivered one if they werent twice of an identical imported car. :p

Jaguars xjs V12 at Bathurst in 83 was definitely the cat among the pigeons....
Excluding foreign cars leaves the picture unbalanced....
