Is there a way to identify what type of 4 speed is in the car when its all bolted up to V8 and in car ? M20 M21 M22

If its Aussie 4 speed you are talking about then no, but it shouldnt be an M22 behind a V8. If you know your diff ratio and tyre size and speedo is correct you can work it out by revs vs speed in each gear 1st-3rd.
