Does anyone know if its possible to widen a VP Commodore differential or did any of the 93 or older Commodore diffs come wider than the VP ones, Id love another 2 inches but it has to have the Commodore stud pattern. Edited by user Sunday, 2 November 2008 11:39:30 AM(UTC)

VN-VS live axle is the widest common diff in the commodore range. The only live axles used after VT were in the crewman & 1 tonner models, and would be worth measuring, as they could be a little wider, but I dont know the answer.
As far as widening |

Cheaper to get an AU Falcon axle and re drill it to Commodore pattern as you will probably have to use re drilled AU axles in a widened Commodore housing anyway. Either that or new billet or Crewman axles (read expensive) will have to be purchased or poss Edited by user Tuesday, 30 September 2008 1:17:06 AM(UTC)

Hi Guys, Yes Commodorenut Im open to suggestions, Im interested in any diff as long as its what you call a live axle but it does require the Commodore stud pattern as the front setup Commodore to,I already have the mags and tyres so purchasing 2 new ones

I think the AU is the best suggestion. AU was 1998-2002. Are you looking at using leaf springs in the rear? If so, then a wagon diff would be the most suitable, as they still used the old cart springs...
Changing the stud pattern wouldnt be too hard |

Bear you just beat me to it. I have just sent you an email on this very subject. HotRodder yes Mick is right your best AU diff would come out of any AU BA or BF wagon or ute as they all have leaf sprung rears. But if you are prepared to cut and weld Edited by user Wednesday, 1 October 2008 7:28:57 AM(UTC)

hey hotrodder, all i did with mine, was make a saddle out of 6mm c section, and bolt the springs onto this, the transit has springs on top of axle, and the au had springs slung underneth axle. the au axle has a good strong plate for fixing points, it w |

Hi Guys, Id go with either AU differential, sedan, utility or wagon as I have assess to a plasma cutter. I already have the saddles so hopefully theyll suit the AU differential and Id say for engineering purposes welding in the holes and drilling new ones

hey osrod, those plates will probbly do it? i used 100mm channel, which fitted over axle like a stockin on a chooks lip! you are probably right casper, should weld, but the way it ended up on the transit configuration, it is really strong, should take |

Good news HotRodder the axle tubes are the same diameter on bot the Commodore and XA onwards Bog Warner/BTR diffs so your neatly made saddles will fit nicely on either.
I hope it was a joke about mounting the diff upside down as this would result i |
