Hi Guys,
I have rebuilt a blue 202 engine rebored, new pistons, reco head, HV oil pump etc. Problem is that when i start it, there is a severe rattle for the first 20 - 30 seconds.
I have used a Z160 (VP V8) oil filter - the small one - in an effort to get quick oil pressure, but still the same.
Any ideas where the problem might be?
Thanks.

If your dip stick is the type with a thin bar near the bottom, check that the bar hasnt broken allowing the dipstick to hit the crank. Long shot but easy to check.

Does it actually have oil pressure? Did you prime the oil pump with grease first? If not its probably time for another rebuild.
