I have a FJ Holden with a modified grey motor and 9.5 to 1 compression. It is converted to 12 volt electricals. I am having trouble getting a starter motor that is good enough to turn it over. Any suggestions?

The stock starter motor should be good for around 13 to 1 compression mate, so the one you have may be on the way out?

12 volts should really crank it over and generally it will take 12 volts as long as you dont crank it over for too long at a time, and let it cool down. As blackie says maybe it needs a service.
