Hi I know it's another engine number question and I tried to get the year of these motors but I just can't find the info My engine numbers are:

1: JG37SD figured this one is Broadmeadows fairlane not sure of year
....34838k

2: JH63WS figured this one Marquis not sure of year
....47189K
Really I'm not sure on anything any help would be much appreciatted.

JG37SD broadmeadows ZH fairlane july 76
JH63WS brisbane marquis or sportsman july 79
63 was used for ZH marquis (and ZH sportsman i think??) and ZJ sportsman so being july 79 id say ZJ sportsman, check the dizzy, if its ZJ it'll be small shaft and will

Thanks mate I had a look and it's a points dizzy I can't seem to find anything other than a vacuum valve or switch on the base of the dizzy with an airline coming off it. So they would both be the detuned 351's from after the XB.

I have a 302 Fairlane 500 and it was a 1 owner and has a points dizzy, Never had electronic set up fitted to it.

No listing for engine code 5. Ha

hi i have looked at the plate 10 times it says 5 for the engine code that is very strange it might be a mistake from the factory thanks for your help many thanks teejay

Got me mate. Try ringing Ford. Give them the engine number etc and fingers crossed they should be able to tell you what's supposed to be sitting under the bonnet. Good luck.

Check the build plate and see if the car was made on a friday or a Monday. Looks like someone got the old stamp a tad wrong which in all honesty wasn't such a rare thing with the quality control back then.
