The best way is to open the side cover and get the cluster gear Part No. All Aussie 3 and 4 speeds have the same casing and the only difference between an M20 and a normal M21 is the first gear ratio. Same with the M22 and XU1 M20.

You only have to be in front at the end of the race. |

As James says cluster gear is the best way. Whilst you cannot swap and change most input shafts some do work on others confusing the whole issue. James, cases for 3 and 4spd are different, only the early 4spds used the 3spd case.

Thanks Mick,
Ill have a chat to you in the next week or so. Bought a tonner body to replace mine, and it had the box with it.

As Mick says, that cluster is for an M21 for HQ onwards. You dont really want an M21 in a tonner though. 1st gear is a b!tch when loaded unless you use a 3.55 diff.

Ive been running a 3.08 diff for the last couple of years in the old girl. Its not a work ute, only a cruiser.
Although having said that, we towed a car trailer up to Blackheath yesterday (Blue Mountains for those not familiar) from Campbelltow

3 speed autos are great for towing. With 3.08 diff even better. But put an M21 in there and youll be changing clutches regularly even without towing. The last 1-tonner I built up was a WB, and at the time I had a spare 202 so I used it with an M20. It was |
