Hi all

Project HZ is slowly moving along. In the 308 rebuild stage at the moment.

Cranks in, rods and pistons are in and the heads are on. Now I was going to put the cam and timing gear in before I put the heads on but ..........forgot.

So, the question is, whats the best way to find TDC of #1 cylinder when the heads are on?

Thanks
Roy

To set ignition timing you need TDC on the compression stroke, piston at top and both valves closed. You

see if you can mount a dial indicator through number one plug hole, adjust it so you can turn the engine over with out locking it up, mount a piece of wire from behind the head of any bolt, slip balancer on and line up wire to a place on balancer, ok now t
