Hi

A friend of mine has what he thinks is a a genuine XU-1 motor (186 block) with which has had some work (yella terra heads, cane manifold, high volume oil pump, triple SUs and 202 crank).

About 2k since rebuild.

I understand that it is a very good motor.


Two questions:

1. What do you guys think something like this would be worth if genuine; and
2. How can you identify that it is a genuine XU-1 motor?

Engine number should start with 3100X

I think a few early XU1 motors started with 186X. Not sure how many.

186 as fitted to XU-1 from Aug 1970 Aug 1971

Engine prefix code: 3100X

186 Bathurst as fitted from Sept 1971 Jan 1972

Engine Prefix Code: CK


Six cylinder engines: located stamped on a pad above the engine mount bosses on right hand side
