The 4R55E transmission in 1998 Explorer 4X4 went out. I bought another one from a salvage yard. When I dropped the pan I found this: A transmission shop looked at it & said it was a bearing. I still have the original transmission. Can I remove the part from it and put it into new transmission? Or how do I make one good transmission from the two? I would also like to know where I can find rebuild instructions, torque specifications, details of component locations, and diagrams for this transmission.

That is called a torrington bearing (or at least in your case 1/4 of one).
Firstly I would take the transmission back to the salvage yard for a refund. If you cant do that then I would try to pull this torrington bearing out of your old transmissio |
