Hi everyone, Ok, so the other night had been driving for a few hours. The battery light was on the whole way (I just figured it was probably the terminals). The car then started to lose power I guess. The stereo was going on and off. The indicators then stopped working. The dash lights went dim. The head lights were playing up. I pulled into a servo turned the car off and it would not start again. so I brought a new battery so I could make it home. Ever since the battery light has mostly not been on, but does come on a few times a day but not for very long. Is it the alternator? Do I need a new one? I think a friend told me it could be the bushs? What should I do? Thanks guys, vphunni

when the brushes are marginal the connection can vary and change with vibration, bumps etc, thus the altenator will work at times and light will go off

Just changed the brushes in mine, gen light just starting to light up.
What I noticed was the old brushes had hardly any ware, compared to the VN ones that use about 75% of the brush before they stop, these were less than 10%. So they may have chnaged
