i have a pair of v8 heads in my shed, said to have been taken off an A9X to put alloy heads on. now ive been told these heads are sought after by torana collectors wanting original matching numbers. so can anyone please tell me what the correct casting numbers are so i can check these heads. cheers

Yep and once youve found out they are A9X heads you can ask a small fortune for them.

The A9X had a stock 308 in it from factory, stock block, stock heads same as the HX or HZ.

The have the same part numbers and the casting date will determine their value for a particular car.

Dont get too excited they arent a performance item.

Any 308 Holden built at the same time as A9X, or A9X.

They could also be 253 heads from the same era.

For each version there is no difference between standard heads on 253 or 308.

Dr Terry.
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

Very true. Me thinking with blinkers on again...

Although I think it would be stupid to do so, someone out there would probably pay more for them simply because they have the right casting date for an A9X. Why? Beyond me, as you cant even see the damn casting date. Very different to Chevs where they at least have a casting mark on the end. Stick them on Ebay with the casting date shown and if its correct for A9X someone will buy them.

see byron

this re affirms my point, that holden numbers ppl really have no idea, and should put thet valuable time into making improvements into the car, not worrying about cast numbers that really mean nothing, at least ford numbers actually mean sometheing

Correct, it means they were made by Ford, hence more likely to rust!

If they are sitting there collecting dust why not put them on Ebay? Thats what its there for. And if someone choses to pay good dollars for them good luck to them. Better than idiots paying bucks for air that Madonna breathed or sheets Julia Roberts slept in.
