Not many I would say, I think the total production of group 3s was about 320.

I was always under the impression that VH Group 3s were all 308s? And the Group 2 was powered by the 253?

I make it 61 with 253s and 261 with 308s.

All group 1s and Group 2s were 253 but the 308 was an option early on for Group 3s

Exactly ^^^^^^^^^^ 253 was standard for nearly all probably all group 1 2 3 , 308 was the optional extra.

Nice car. Perfect candidate for a Stroker conversion, keeping the original engine aside. What srt of $ are you chasing?

im not sure ,ive seen them with 308s going for anything between 30 to 40 and even 50 grand ,i havnt seen one with a 2 fart 3 for sale ever i think maybe one. seeing as theres a lot more with 308s would that make the rarer 253s worth more or would that be cancelled out just by the fact that as far as the car goes youd rather a 308?
i bought this cos i love vhs and flipping P plate restrictions (no 308s)

does anyone know of any HDT or commodore forums similar to this one?

Youre pretty good Frank! People need to make up their own minds about forums, but you have offered good guidance.
Greg (classis oz) and myself will back you all the way with that statement of yours, just as Peter Champion (current owner of HDT) does.

Cheers,

Mick
