Team (Read Jim5.0)

Any idea who can calibrate guages in the ACT or surrounds??

Rumour has it that my GTS dash may be from a 6 cylinder and therefore doesnt suit the 308.

Perhaps the same for the oil pressure guage which goes off the dial when connected to the VDO sender unit. Or is it just the wrong pressure sender unit???

Cheers

Jeremy

1) sorry cannot help with instrument fitter

2) Only difference between V8 GTS dash and 6 cylinder GTS dash is the position of the switch on the back of the tacho. Once V8 is slected all will be fine.

3) Probably have the HJ to HZ oil pressure sender, you need the HD to HQ, HB to LJ or VB to VK oil presure sender.

Hi Warren

As always, thanks for your help.

If Id pulled it out before posting it would proabably have been obvious.

Would both of these be the right sender unit for example??

The second one is the HJ -WB/LH to LX type and is not for you.

The first one maybe, it was made in 82, so could have been taken off Commodore. Owner says it works, and by title is an HR person. The kpa is metric version, but they should be the same.

Right again Warren.

Yes I would have said Premier instruments in Dickson too but GTRPU beat me to it.

As for teflon tape I was told that its a no no for oil pressure senders and a week later mine got blocked by the damn stuff. Took it off the car, cleaned it out and re assembled it using non hardening gasket goo on the threads and its been good as gold ever since.

In the process of doing same conversion as Jeremy, EFI304 into HG, as time permits have been piecing together wiring and have a question regarding the GTS instruments, is it possible thru the use of a T piece to have both an original oil sender for gauge on the GTS dash and the Commodore oil pressure switch sender to keep the Commodore wiring standard with the oil pressure switch contact parallelled round the fuel pump relay and connection into Diagnostic link connector?
Or is it better to do away with original switch?

Thanks,
Steve

Exactly the correct way to do it. Be careful with the threaded fittings though, Holden use NPT threads NOT BSP.
