Just wondering if someone would be kind enough to decipher these plates. I know what theyre on but would like it all explained. I know it's an early one and have some history too. Trying to find out how it fits in the run due to it been real early, apparently.

if no one can help you on here you could try the victorian FX FJ club and speak to a chap named Barry Black. very knowledgeable on the FX and a nice bloke to boot

BlueJ, sounds like a 1949(FX) Red Leather interior, Convoy Grey exterior, produced in November. AL.

Yep its correct. Grey with red interior. So whats ACC 11 and how do you get 49? Any other info I can get from vehicle to be deciphered?

Nov 49 means that it would have been made about 12 months into production. Body #8116, if they worked mon to fri on day shift only and if the FX sedan was the only product line it translates to an average of 31 cars a day.
There must have been a bit of a wait for one, I guess for the working conditions of the era 31 a day would still have been hard yakka.

Had a bit more of a look. Its options are: Air Cheif 5 radio LH sun visor Locking petrol cap The HD oil bath air cleaner Missed out on the venetian. Pfft. Eng 9351 Plate on drivers side rail near radiator 94147M Reg IE 877 So 8116 is the number in series? Oh, and can I put some Monaro plates up here to be done too? Just to save on a new thread. Info needed for Monaro HT. Its plated HT80737 but came with 307 Chev, Powerglide and banjo. Has got 5ltr badges on GTS guards that appear to be original. Appears to be proper Powerglide tunnel, console and shifter/linkages. HK disc brake front end. HG bonnet, grille and taillights. All V8 parts are consistant for era and dont appear to have been altered from 6cyl. Car was purchased about 20 years ago and therefor wouldnt have been modified to current spec just to make it more valuable. Car was Daytona Bronze with black interior. Can someone also confirm if this boot has the hump for Salisbury.

ACC 11 = 11th month, ie November
On HT, powerglide and opel floor is the same, saginaw is the only other floor in HT.
No it is not a salisbury floor in the rear.
20 years ago they were 20 years old and everyone was fitting V8s because it was very cheap to do so. A typical 307 glide to banjo conversion was about $500 - $1000. We converted a mates panel van by buying a running 307 Kingswood for $500. This would only be about $2000 today. Broughams were also dead cheap at the time.
A fellow I worked with converted his 186S daytona bronze, sandalwood roof sandalwood houndstooth trim to 253 4 speed in 1987. It happened to heaps of 6 cylinder cars. They were considered not worthy as a 6, so many just converted them so that people did not belittle their cars by saying "too bad its not a V8"

Thanks Warren. Assumed as much but owner wondered why so many things werent even consistant with all parts from one donor car. Was told when purchased that the vehicle was assembled at Holden from parts leftover, hence the inconsistantcies. Any chance of a pic of what the salisbury boot floor looks like? Just a link if theres a pic already somewhere would be fine thanks.

In HT there were no "left over parts", but you get stories like that all the time.
The salisbury floor just has a slight rise in the centre, nothing too specataculer. But sorry do not have a photo handy. A salisbury willgo in without the hump being there, but saginaw would require an floor mod (possibly with a sledge hammer).
The car sounds like a bit of a bitsa, but unless you are trying to restore to original, would not be a problem. The floors look good, so hopefully the rest is good enough to make a nice car.

Yeah hes not interested in what it used to be or if its original anything, just curious. Its a real good condition car. Just painted. Will look fairly stock except for colour - Blueprint, wheels, and a nice ally headed Chev.
