Hi all,

I am about to go look at a HX van and was wondering if it is a Sandman as the owner says (just like to know for piece of mind)

Heres all the ID tags from the car. Thanks in Advance!

It could be, but more likely not. GVW looks like 2200kg on the ADR plate and that means if it is a Sandman its an XU3 thus is a difficult proposition to identify. Given the tags are off the car id also be wary, and wouldnt buy it without a very good check of the shell, unless its very good value.

The car is in pieces and needing a full rebuild. I believe its a factory 253, 4 speed and the colour is Mandarin Red.I will be looking at it tomorrow

I was able to get these pics as well. I dont mind a bit of hard work but I want to make sure Im working on the real thing!

Absinth is correct. I missed the 19V trim code, read it as 18V on first glance. I was sold on it not being a Sandman by the 2200kg GVW, but 19V trim nails it.

So this origonal sandman with 19v trim is not real

19V denotes as youve probably realised the trim colour, pretty sure 19V in an HX is black vinyl.

I think the correct trim codes for HX are 18V, 60A, 65A and 67V.

People, quite honestly at times Im sure, think they have a Sandman for sale. However if its important to you to be buying the genuine article read back through this thread from the beginning to learn how to identify them.

Its a HJ, not a HX. Sandmans got 18V for black in HX/Z, normal Holden spec got 19V. In HJ all base models (Holden spec) got 19V when black ordered, only Kingswood got 18V.
