the auto in my sister in laws VN (V6) is having problems shifting gears
it will drive fine til it's time to change gears but it will just hold it's revs and shudder a little bit for a few seconds before shifting up a gear
it does this through all gears
any ideas what is causing this? what would i do to fix it?

err.. the problem is now MUCH worse!!!
it won't change gears now, it just gets to about 4000rpm and serges and shudders, it think the gear box is buggered
she rang a local auto gearbox dude who said the box is stuffed and wouldn't be worth repairing
he said he could supply and fit a good second hand box for $700, this is too much for her to afford so it looks like i scored myself a gearbox change job (Grrr)
so... is a auto box in a VN (V6) easy to change? iv'e done plenty of HQ boxes would it be as easy as that?
would i just remove the motor/box as 1 unit swap the box then replace as 1 or is there a easier way?
any advice would be apreciated

hi dave, i did not think it was savable, i would drop the pan see whats in their and make sure filter is not blocked, if you going to pull box out you will want to drain the oil anyway, dont pull engine and box out can be done underneith on the ground no real differnt to a v8 hq. when fitting new box hold the shifter bar with a shifter while tighening the nut up you dont want to bend the linkage inside the box, i learnt the hard way lol. pete.
