Have electric areial new in box from VB /VH commodore it has no instructions just a big black relay type thingo does anyone remember how to wire these up or have a wiring diagram they were fitted to all SLE commodores and WB statesmans in early 80s Thanks

Hi Laurence,

These only have 2 wires, 1 for up, 1 for down and need +12V for operation. Also make sure the base of the antenna housing is well earthed.

The wiring depends on how you want it to work. You could either get a control module and switch from an SL/E and wire it up for semi-automatic operation or just just a 3-way switch for manual operation. The HQ-HZ antenna switches were strong enough to pass the current to the antenna from the battery, however I'm not sure if the commodore style would handle this. If you wanted to go for manual operation you could just use 2 relays behind the dash and use an SL/E switch to keep it looking original.
