Yes very difficult on the sales per month, the reason I used the entire model life was to make it simple. the last LE for example, sold in the HZ period. I think it was mid 78 from memory.
HJ coupes were withdrawn early, the LS first, but some were still available in dealerships.
Even the new coupes, three CV6s were sold in 2004,(Vfacts) when production stopped mid 2003. Same goes for the CV8Z, production stopped on 12/12/05, but mine was sold in January 2006, and there were still plenty around to choose from. The fellow that purchased mine new had 2 to choose from. Have found some first registered in February 2006. I am sure there would be some others later than that, infact, I beleive one dealership still has one that has not been sold yet. If they do sell it it will be with new car warranty and add 5 years to the on sale of these cars.
So the sales per month would actually be lower than that indicated, not more. Which is why you would have the one per day for the LE, with the last being sold so late.
It would scew the figures too much if the actual date of the last one sold was taken into account. Maybe it should be reflected in build per month average. But lets also not forget that they were being built well before they went on sale, first HK Monaro built 5 months before release, first HT 350 6 months before release etc.
The idea was to show how popular they were with buyers. Cars like the LE, CV8R and CV8Z, which are built in a batch as such, do not neccessarily sell in batches.
As can be seen the Monaro was off the boil well before the HQ, and the Falcon coupe was almost as well rejected by the buying public.
Also the estimate left would be lss than 10%, nowhere near 50%. Top line cars like the GTS 350s would be higher as they are more expensive and are more likely to be looked after.
