Probably front console mount has been welded in and the middle D55 one removed, or a special of some sort. With this process you'd never know as the rear spot welded one is the same for M11 and D55.
Officially all auto tonners were column shift, according to ordering procedures anyway. But we all know special order vehicles did and do exist.

This has all got badly off track from the original post of Davo's. When I get time later i'll try and clean it all up and maybe start another thread by transferring the offtrack stuff across.

Why would the M22 Saginaw be standard without console, but not the M21, in a commercial, they were identical in every way except the ratios.

Greetings, There are actually 3 levers for a Saginaw shift mechanism. One for the plain knob, one for the knob with the shift pattern, and the commercial long lever. The commercial lever is longer than the other two. The M22 was standard without a console because it was the commercial transmission and commercials could not be had with a console. This is all from the Features book and the parts books. The sales brochure also shows a picture of the floor shift boot and the long lever.

There were also lots of "sandman spec" cars built after sandman, brother had a 253 4 speed GTS dash HZ van that he purchased from the original owner, he did not want a sandman as the insurance was so high, so speced up a van to suit.

When we researched the Monaro story/facts, I was in Mt Isa and we gathered all tag info off all the cars we could find. Nearly every HQ to HZ van in the wreckers in Mt Isa was a factory 308, not all were sandman.

Hope this helps.

Warren

Greetings, No commercial model had a console until the Sandman according to all the official documentation. You may have seen owner modified examples in your travels.

thankyou GIT, i agree with you. ive seen all 3 types in 'original as' cars. dunno about parts book etc info, as they were printed b4 cars were even out there,& cant tell you about changes etc that occured post release. anyway, coz i work more than read, (my hands normally too dirty to bother flickn thru pages comparing numbers)ive seen them for real over th years
(sort ov like trying to find holden V8 exhaust manifolds to match part# in book?? they dont exist!! OR maybe HT/G saginaw holden V8 bell housing as per parts book?? doesnt exist either

other point is people referring to HQ onwards which i think options opened up a lot more to

BUT ANYWAY, back to the original topic of HK HT HG OWNER DRIVERS CLUB OF AUSTRALIA:

Im still sorting out some fine details b4 i get the final logo out there & still awaiting final decision on secretary & treasurer etc.
THEN i will officially advertise the event b4 end of april at th latest.

feel free to post some interest if you are interested in attending

I'm new to this forum and have been reading it with great interest. I've been around early Holdens for years and own four at the moment. Stock FJ, Modified FE and FE wagon, Appendix J EH. I've owned various HK-T-G models and still regard the HT as my favourite model of the lot.

I've been involved with many early Holden Nationals and think the idea of a K-T-G Nats is marvellous and not before time. My thoughts for what they are worth.

Easter and the June long weekend are already taken regarding Nationals. There aren't any held over the October long weekend. Now that Bathurst isn't held on this weekend any more it leaves it begging. Don't get sucked into holding a Nationals every year. You won't get the numbers year after year. A Bi-annual event is much better. Look at the FX-FJ and FE-FC Nats and compare attendance figures with the FB-EK and HD-HR Nats. This year the HD-HR Nats struggled to get many entrants from what I am told.

Yes, there are Holden Days all over the place. A distinct Nationals for these models has been needed for years in my opinion and yes I would turn up even without a car. But I am working on this again.

Colin.

Today I came across a HG Panelvan wedged between containers and other industrial type equiptment. The Van is out in the open and slowly rusting away in the carpark of a small business. The owner thought I wanted to buy it, and said keep walking mate it aint for sale.

But I had a look in the window, its full of rubbish being used as a storeroom I think, but it has bucket seats, four speed floor shift and console plus i could see a full lenght headlining in black.

The car has GTS guards and the tail gate is badged 308, which the owner confirmed it was a 308 and his first panelvan that he intends to restore oneday. I could not see the front so no idea if it has twin lights or not. The owner said it went to the USA and was imported back he told me the car has General Motors tags under the bonnet not GMH. I am going to go back with my camera and ask him if
I can take some pic's, but the Panelvan is on a business premise's so I don't know how I will go, but I will try. apart for the tags if
I can get a pic what else should I try to get pictures of.

Cheers Mick
