Not to get too involved here with the nationals/get to gether, but this is an unknown quantity at this stage.

Why not start with a well advertised run (one day) on say Australia day as the hK was released in January.

If held in central Victoria (as everything big in Holden seems to be in Victoria), mabe even organise a group to cruise from Melbourne, anoher from Wangaratta etc.

If you get 10 cars then that will let you know there is not that much interest, but you should be able to pull 100.
This will generate interest in a club etc.

I know that is how the WA and Tasmanian Monaro clubs started, from interest in the nationals.

Well advertised some will come from interstate.

With this info you will be able to go to towns like Wangeratta and put a case forward for assistance, such as show grounds, advertising etc.

Just some thoughts for you.

Warren

ALL HOLDEN DAY!! Sounds even better Dave.
No-one left out, just one huge extravaganza of people and their beloved hobby.
Bright was great, enjoyed the hangover watching all the cars in the town square and meeting up with some fabulous enthusiasts. I reckon that bloke with the dreads driving a tough T-Bucket with the grin immovably tattooed on his face all day, summed it all up. Taking anyone/everyone for a spin up and down the strip. What a character.
Best of all was the broad and varied range of quality builds there. Even the bloke with the hacked up, bogged up, painted with a paintbrush convertible was proud to drive up and down the strip. Not one person was frowned upon nor was their work. Could easily have driven the un-finished wagon there, sitting on milk crates with rope as a seatbelt ferfuxache. No-one was left out, and all the girls wearing low cut tops certainly walked away with a lasting reminder. ie. They nearly all forgot to smear sunscreen on certain exposed areas completely unaware of the really high uv radiation of the higher country. Hehe.
Great spectacular, and I hope this coming event can do the same for all Holden/car enthusiasts as well.
See you there!!!

But isn't this already done in each state each year as the all Holden days? Your suggestion would be nothing new in this case. It would be better to put on an event that was new and unique. People are always interested in new things.

ok, GIT, thanks for your feedback (or dig, whicheva th case may be)
thats why im posting it here! for comments & feedback
i dont expect it to be huge first time round (thankyou warren for your input) but i do beleive its going to be easily 150+ hk ht hg vehicles in one place for a magnificent get together!
we could easily open it up for earlier & later models, but theoretically i beleive it would only detract from the whole purpose of the event.
by all means im not restricting any vehicles from attending, but this event will be all about hk ht hg. just like monaro nats dont allow prem/ broughams etc, & all holden days attract fords in th carpark to admire/drool etc
best of luck to simon hktg parts recovery if he chooses to hold an event similar on same weekend!
this is just a casual get together of enthusiasts into hk ht hg models from all states to assemble in one place for the fun of it with no official judging!
if you have one completed, or in th process of restoration or would just like to have one, thats who i want to meet. an also the every day driver cars that arnt quite up to scratch.
after all, thats why we all get just as many/ or more ideas checking out the ones in carpark that didnt meet expectations inside
every state already has all holden days & particular model shows & nationals etc on th calendar & i attend & most of them & drool

HK HT HG OWNER DRIVERS CLUB OF AUSTRALIA will announce the exact wangaratta location, dates, costs & criteria over next 2 weeks.
any one or parties interested in helping in the organisation?
i would like to appoint members from each state to participate & help spread th word
thanks to wangaratta, the venue has been secured, with camping & food facilities etc
this will be a non profit event with all proceeds going straight back into communities & charities

hmmm, looks like a major shafting that simon from HKTG parts recovery is getting from the dirty one himself huh??
i like many others have abandoned this forum simply to now due to what seems to be its "2 sets of rules" policy, but i just glanced over it this morning and noticed all this hobwash about a national for the ugliest cars holden made, and seemed to recall that simon had already thought of it and mentioned it in here, and now davo has hijacked his idea and taking over, even wishing simon best of luck with his venture?????
well, just shows the tight knitted-ness of you blokes that seem to always praise the HKTG's but now instead of sticking together you have set out to undermine the guy that had the idea in the first place and pinched his idea.
good luck to you all in trying to make this work, it hasnt even started and i can already see its going to turn to crap caused by infighting and idea pinching

Greetings dirty Davo, What gives!? My feedback was around the fact that an event for just the HK-G cars was what is needed (your original idea for an event). I don't think Australia needs another event that would be so like any other all Holden day (your alternate proposal). Stick to your guns and just have show for the cars you like. Don't cave in to pressure that would dilute the whole purpose of the event to focus on a particular style of Holden.

thankyou for your input "we wreck 81837s"
first of all, ive been wrecking these models since sept 1991
probably just as long as youve been into your GTs
im not stealing ideas from anyone
i met simon when he first started out about 5 or 6 yrs ago & have discussed ideas about a hktg car show ever since!
once combining a trade stands with him at loxton monaro natts in 2006,we discussed how good it would be to have an event for all HKTGs & not just about monaros!!!!
then when 2008 ballarat natts came round & he could not attend & trade, due to circumstances beyond his control,
& then again at warwick in sept 2010,
i thought it was time to instigate it??????????

its all about support from the public now?
so speak up HKTG LOVERS?????????????
if 'we wreck81837' thinks they so ugly? WTF is you even interested in bucket mouthing??????
sincerely, dirty davo HK HT HGs

Hmmm I may be missing something, but I fail to see how Simon not trading with you at the previous 2 Nationals has anything to do with you stealing his idea for an event.

Over the moon someone is putting an event together instead of just talking about it. Meanwhile I'll keep subscribing to this topic.

not sayin it has anything to do with him not trading at last couple of events!!!
just making a point that 'because nothing more has been said or mentioned about a HKTG event'
that im actually going to persue this!!!!
when i first put it up, i even put my first proposal past simon as well (nothing to hide here!) & all he could do was 'go on about was that i stole his idea?' and that he would do all in his power to clash with mine?
its no dream, its reality, an its going to happen!!
im determined to host a national event for australia wide,in wangaratta, (being more central to a bigger scope of enthusiasts) not just a local event in my backyard (otherwise it would have been in geelong!)

I don't care about the percieved in-fighting here. I think anyone who is happy to put together a show/get together should be commended.

Two All Holden Days in Vic already has not hurt either of them with attendances in the 350-500 each year at both events. Having had a big hand in the organisation of the majority of the Geelong Holden Days, I think we should all be congratulating the fellas for taking on the job and being prepared to do the ground work on what is bound to be an arduous yet successful and rewarding slog.

Personally, I will try and rub out any things that the missus has put on the calendar and attend Wangaratta Dave. I don't know about yours Simon (sorry), simply due to the distance factor, but I hope you get plenty of attendees too.

I think we can save it...I'm taking it back
