Hi everyone.
Sorry but im going to sin and put a ford part in my beloved Hx Kingswood sedan since it seams cheaper than getting a 10 bolt LSD.
What i want to know is if there is a 9 inch diff thats is close to the width of a Kingswood diff.
Im basicly after one thats the same width or no more than an inch narrower.
Want this to cut down on cost to convert to fit a HX.
Anyone know if any certain ford came with a 9 in to suit these specs?
Thanks in advance Christopher

Hi GMH1975.

The XA/XB/XC Falcon is very close to the same width as an HQ-WB rear axle. The XW/XY is about 1.5" narrower, which sometimes allows wider wheels to be fitted, depending on their offset.

When you get it fitted get a pro to weld the bracke

XA, XB, XC.

What you need to do is cut the ends off the axle tubes and weld on Holden ends, plus weld on the Holden mounts. If you get the tubes the right length VN Commodore axles will bolt straight in, and the Commodore discs will also bolt on, or wi

Was speaking to a fellow HQ owner the other day on this exact topic. He didnt gain much from the conversion. A little extra effort for little return. And he had a Q that had serious grunt ie ram tunnel nitrous Ford diff etc.

His words were dont dont bo

They are made in Australia, and bits are scarce. Look for a VK V8 diff and get the bits out of it.

If you are producing decent power go the 9 inch, the only people trying to tell you otherwise are those die hard people that would rather spend hours replacing centres and axles than say they have a ford part in there holden. Compare the size difference i

he`s not building a drag car! even so a few guys in sa have camaro`s that lift the front wheels off the ground in 2nd gear and use 12 bolt saliburys with no dramas , so there are other GM diffs than a 9 inch out there to handle a bit of power .

GM vehicles like Pontiacs and Chevs. Were a production option on HK,HT and HG 81837 vehicles. Characterised by the 12 bolts that hold the crownwheel to the carrier, exactly as per a 10-bolt Chev (HK,T.G) or 10-bolt Holden (HQ-VK/WB) with 10 bolts on the c
