Yeah good on ya Jim. I.ve noticed how all the guy.s on here dont mind helping out,it,s really good stuff.
even the arguement.s are good...lol and the beer would be Cooper,s would;nt it?...ha
My mate and his girl were over recently and one of the first thing,s he asked me was "Does the local bottleshop
have Cooper.s?... lol

I might add you,re not living a bad ol joint S.A., good road,s,nice weather,friedly people,wont mention the footy..lol
I lived in Tanunda in the Barossa as a teenager and my friend that was just over here said he was surpised to see
so many new car,s on the road,s in Victoria.
In the week he was here we only counted a nice HR,EH,a nice SS HQ and a few HJ, HZ,s but that was about it
as far as Old School goes.
The Club Sports are grouse too...

Before i go can someone please let me know if they think i,ll have any touble with my engine mount,s? the reason I ask is, I was thinking that if maybe this VH has,nt been re-birthed? and it was originally a four like the Tag,s read
could the engine mount,s on it be special one,s to suit putting a V8 into a four?.
I guess it.s no big deal getting other engine mount,s if I have to?

Also could someone please help me out regarding the Speedo cable? I got the one for the Turbo but I noticed on
the VK today that the cable does,nt go all the way to the dash, it goes to this little box in the engine bay and it thread,s on while the Turbo speedo cable look,s like it,s designed to slip on, the dash is electronic and it would be
good if i could keep it. Cheer,s Everyone

Use the engine mounts & brackets out of your Calais to make the new motor work.

Your Calais has a unique setup for the speedo. The trans runs a short cable to the cruise control transducer - as you have found, and the digital speedo is fed via the speed sender that is also screwed onto that module (a cylindrical fitting with a 3 pin plug on it).

- BUT -

The VC, VH, VK & WB with factory/GMH Accessory cruise control all ran the same cruise transducer - which is a delco item from the USA (so not hard to source if you're hunting).

Because some of the other models with that transducer also ran a turbo 350 trans, there is a cable to suit it.

Any VC 5L, early VH 5L (up to 12/81) and early WB 5L fitted with cruise control and the turbo 350 trans will have the cable that runs from a turbo 350 to the cruise module that you need.

Otherwise, a mob like flexdrive industries should be able to make you a cable - at least you have the screw-on end for the transducer, and the other end that suits the turbo 350.

Cheers,

Mick

Thank,s guy,s
got all that...The car has been sitting for 3 year,s without the 304 in it and the engine mounts have gone missing
My son cant find them anywhere, he has the 304 in his speed boat.

The engine mount,s that are bolted to the 308 for some reason dont look right to me but maybe it,s just me seeing it that way? What would you guy,s do? just wait and see if she bolts in?

I,ll try and track down a cable and get onto flexdrive at the sametime but i think i might have to get a new cable because when the guy pulled the cable out he lost the cog off the end.
I found it laying in the dirt under the VH but when i put the cog back on it looks like there may have been a spacer that slip,s on before the cog like the one on the VK?
Hopefully it wont be too hard to find one?

Thank,s heap,s Mick

How could i get hold of the spare part,s number,s Jim or Anyone?

Talk soon guy,s

Cheer,s Everyone

Brian
