G'day,
Newbe here I have a HQ GTS 2 door with a 350 chev. The problem is:
I have snapped a alternator mounting bolt. The reason i that I am running a long water pump and the alternator is spaced out too far from the block...
I run a Gilmer drive, which only runs the water pump and alternator.
The Gilmer belt already sits on the block side of the crank pully and on the radiator side of the water pump pully.

My question is: Can I simply change the long water pump with a short, top give me less leverage on the alternator mounting bolts so I wont keep snapping them? I have been told I need a new Gilmer drive set if I change to a short???? This will also line the belt up better on the crank and new 'short water pump...
Any Help would be much appreciated!!!

Sorry, I meant the belt sits on the radiator side of the crank pully and the block side of the water pump pully!

Not a big fan of the gear drives....to noisy.
Just really need to know if I change the water pump to a short series, will I need to put a different gilmer pulley kit on it?
