Hi all, Ive bought new bailey channel and weather seals for the windows on my HX sedan and had a go at replacing the drivers side rear today. ran into problems putting the glass back in, the rubber the glass sits in on the channel that lifts it up and down is old and hard and now slips out when winding the window down, so my questions are: - Can you buy this rubber new? - If not do you need to glue this in? - and whats the best way to put the glass back in? i had issues scratching the glass and chipping the paint on the 1/4 window frame.
Thanks, Mark

The problem is in the modern bailey channel rubbers, they need a lube.
I used graphite powder in the vertical channels and wound the windows up and down about 50 times each, very good exercise.
Have heard of blokes using silicon spray or WD40 both are not recommended for reasons I have now forgotten.
I used black silicon to glue the glass back into the lift channel, left it overnight and did that one last after I'd fixed the rest of em.

You'll need some CRL Tuff-Pak Glass Setting Tape but not sure what size exactly. The cork and rubber composite tape is best for setting glass back in the channel. It helps to soak the tape in stodard solvent or something like that during installation. After it dries it should hold the glass firmly in position. http://www.crlaurence.co...4:1497:1507&ModelID=1677CATALOG NUMBER DESCRIPTION 690 CRL 1/32" Tuff-Pak Cork and Rubber Glass Setting Tape 770 CRL 3/64" Tuff-Pak Cork and Rubber Glass Setting Tape 720 CRL 1/16" Tuff-Pak Cork and Rubber Glass Setting Tape 760 CRL 5/64" Tuff-Pak Cork and Rubber Glass Setting Tape 820 CRL 3/32" Tuff-Pak Cork and Rubber Glass Setting Tape
