Hi,
I'm at the stage of wiring up my 355 stroker. Does anyone have a basics wiring diagram or could draw me one or explain it to me.
Firstly, Battery -ive to body, +ive to starter motor.
Power wire from Batt positive to ignition.
Ignition start to starter motor and +ive of coil Ignition normal to +ive of coil
Coil -ive to red wire on distributer
Other wire on distributer which is black to earth???
Does this sound correct? |

Stephen,a gregorys manual is about $20 and they have wiring diagrams in them, good investment I think.coil=yellow is ignition switch dark brown firewall block.black is negative/capacitater. Edited by user Sunday, 13 February 2011 4:33:40 AM(UTC)

The other distributor wire is likely to go to a condenser (to prevent points burn and reduce radio interference) if there is not one inside the dizzy itself. Check inside the dizzy to see if the two wires are connected or go to different places. Another possible connection is coil -ve to tacho (as well as dizzy). The condenser in the distributor works in unison with the points & the coil to produce the spark, it has nothing to do with radio interference. If this condenser is faulty you will get reduced spark & the points will burn out. The radio suppression condenser is fitted to the positive side of the coil to reduce radio interference back along the 12v +ve ignition wire. These 2 condensers are totally separate & unrelated. I often see the radio suppressor incorrectly wired to the -ve side of the coil - NOT GOOD !! Dr Terry |

I have an electronic dizzy, it has two wires, where do they go? Does they both go to the coil, or does one (red wire) go to positive of coil and black wire gets earthed on chasis?

both on the coil mate. aslo make sure you get rid of any resistor wire in the ignition circuit and ensure the coil sees alt voltage when running. Edited by user Wednesday, 23 February 2011 11:29:39 PM(UTC)

Just short the two wires (start and run) at the switched side of the ignition switch, this will give you 12V at the coil always. Easily removed later too if you want and requires no extra wiring. |
