I am rebuilding my 308 to a 355 stroker and would like to run my M21 gearbox behind it. I am concerned the the M21 box will not hold up with the extra HP and I would like recommendations for where to get a full rebuild, strengthened if possible. Happy to pay $$ for a good service

There is a mob offering the followng mod - Top Loader 21 MM LAY Shaft and Rings with Mitsubishi bearings good for rev range of 7400.

Would appreciate advise as I am not fimiliar with this mod, or if actually strengthens the box!!!

Thanks

M21 are ok.
3 things that stuff them are:

1) Dumping the clutch (violent) in first with a tall diff / heavy car will take cogs off first gear.
2) make sure first gear is fully dis - engaged in the box before going for reverse.
3) shift with a true H pattern to make sure box is in the right gear at all times.
Old holdens brought on the spot, quick decision, cash paid.
