Going thru my spares for cleanup and noticed I have 2 different HK GTS bootlids. Until now I had always thought they were all the same.

Notice the stamping is quite different at both ends of the two lids.

My car is a Sydney build and its bootlid, which is the original, is the same as the blue one above.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Hi. All I can add is that I have an Adelaide built HK GTS delivered on 30/5/69 and the bootlid is the same as your blue one

Just going by the comments by Dr Terry on another post re boot differences, I had a look at the two boots I have here at home, and they are both as per your Gold one. They are on a HT & HG brougham.
So if the HT boot will fit the HK and seal, and the first appearance of the HT style boot was with the HK brougham, Then perhaps the backing panel (and assembly) for the gold boot on your monaro was produced at around the time of the HK Brougham release??
Just a thought.

Thanks Bruvpig.

Interesting the things you notice when you look. Other possibility is that it could be plant specific perhaps? Both photos I posted are of my spares and I do not know anything about history of the cars they came from. I will add this to the list of things to check out at the next show.

Where did the early HK Broughams come from? or wasn't it plant specific?
That might be something else to look into as a clue.

Yep, love the Green too, SC. Looks magic with lots of clear over it.

Here is a photo of my HT GTS bootlid featuring a slightly different pattern again.

Yep it looks like there were multiple pressings in the cutouts probably for the trim mouldings??
Seems like a lot of cost in tooling for a few holes.
