I have the compartment lid and 4 speed insert from a HQ 4 speed console. Both have burlwood wood grain on them with the 4 speed insert having two seperate pieces that have obviously been cut from factory. I cannot remember if these came from the earlier type console with lap sash belts or a later type console with compartment area. I am wondering what model this has come from, I was thinking possibly an LS or a premier but how rare would it be for a premier or LS to be factory manuals or were these rather common?

It could also be from a Statesman.

Premier, LS were standard with 3 speed manual, trimatic/turbo 400 and 4 speed optional.

Rare???? Well it is an over used term as discussed before, but probably a few thousand made.

from a article I have in my oldholden shed... lists HQ statesman as 3 speed or tri-matic only? but I have seen a few HQ statesmans & Prems with factory 4 speeds, both 6 & V8, deville & custom..

I doubt it, never seen or heard of one. I did see a HQ Deville with M21 in the TRANS spot but it has since proven to be a fake (M21 stamped in the blank spot on HQ Statesman BODY plate). 4spd Premiers and LS's appear to be relatively common in HQ compared to later series.

I am thinking that it is from either an LS or a Premier but was unsure as to weather they had a 4 speed option. I have since sold the console body but still have the lid and 4 speed insert that I have mounted in a HJ console so it will match (sort of) the burlwood of my SL/E dash that I was going to fit in a project, I want to SL/E my wb van using a 4 speed but the boy wants it to be an auto which would mean using the actual SL/E console. I really wanted to use the manual HJ console because of the uniqueness of it as I have never seen another factory burlwood woodgrain manual insert, same as the electric GTS mirrors I have, they would be good fitted as well.

I have an LE dash (same burlwood wood grain) but it has the white needles and no badge. Definitley won't be putting that in the van.
