Is the auto on the VR 6cyl the same as other models or does it have to be a VR/VS to interchange?

It has to be VR to interchange - VS is different, and so are late (1995) VR.

Best bet is to match the code on the box - ie if you have a 4HDD then replace it with a 4HDD (4 denotes 1994).

don't actually need a box yet but can see one in the future so just getting ready for a bargain to come up to put away.
