Hi All

Just wanting to pick the brains of you all as the welth of knowagle here would be a million times my own.

I own a 99 GT Forester and have been offered a striaght swap on a "genuine" HJ GTS Sedan.

Catch is the ID plates are missing, apparently stolen in 1993 but the have poilce paperwork identifing the car as a Monaro.

It has cancer in the usual spots around the vents in the back doors, bottom of back door, and passenger sill.

The Vin and engine numbers on the rego start with S and end in P (apparently the P is put there from the police check)

Car was Cream but has been sprayed GTS Red i can put up a link to photo's of the car.

Given that a genuine matching numbers GTS would probably fetch $15-$20k without the cancer is it worth me trading my $9k forester?

Thanks for taking the time to read and hopefully answer my question

+1 to what the others have said.

Without the ID plates it is not worth much at all.

With no ID plates its only worth parts and you will lose money on it, paper work stating its a GTS means nothing for the cars value without tags. Its worth as much as a series one AU falcon about $800.

AU Falcon !!

It's worth more than that. It's probably worth $5,000 - $6,000, as without plates it's just a V8 HJ Kingswood. It really comes down to the condition of the body & trim etc. just like any other used car.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

yes, but they are not worth $5-6000 without plates unless you have a rusty wreck to swap it too which would be frowned upon.

Yep thats the one, he's very generous with the discription.

The photos are old the rear door vents are completely rusted out would need to be chopped and re welded. Drivers seat has a hole in the back with foam chuck missing.

Can't be too original, HJ 308s had a turbo 400 not a trimatic.
Cheers,
Pete.
