i've just detected a bit of a miss with the V6 VY, starts and idles fine but when at speed (100) and i point it at a slight hill, not enough to drop back a gear (auto) it seems to miss/shudder. it's only there at that point. hard acceleration no probs, coasting no probs. i initially though possibly uni joints because it feels a bit like backlash, but thinking more about it i doubt it. any ideas?
thanks in advance

change the plugs and leads, very common when the torque convertor clutch is applied and start to increase a load i.e up hill it will begin to miss.

Had a similar problem with a VX V6, sitting on 100kph it would drop 200 revs every 20 seconds or so, Dr T suggested Pete's remedy and it worked fine for me. Edited by user Friday, 8 July 2011 7:05:33 AM(UTC)

check the leads to see if there's any white powdery stuff on them, if so there stuffed
but it defiantly sounds like leads

You blokes were spot on, replaced leads and plugs no more probs. Seems to start easier too. Super cheap had 20% storewide yesterday, with the money saved I shouted it a new accessory belt as well, the one on it was a bit daggy. Aren't they easy to fit? Took a couple of minutes! Thanks heaps

ok, after about 1500km the problem has returned. the plugs and leads when renewed DID solve the problem but it's back. same symptoms. i used bosch items as replacements, is one defective or have i got bigger problems like a coil or something? could the plug gap be the issue?
cheers fellas

dont you hate that, i use genuine leads the set i fitted had made in china on the bag god bless holden lol, they fit well lenght wise yet never had a problem with them and there cheap, i spose you have a lead problem or maybe a coil now playing up, as soon as you fix a weak link in the system the next weak thing plays up, have a look on the leads for any signs of arching??? pete.
