its that time of year,... i went to charge a calcium hybrid battery in a commodore with my supercheap $50 calibre charger which has been excellent for the last 5 years and it blew it up. the fine print on the calibre said lead batteries only.
whats the go here?? how do you charge a calcium battery then? |

There are specific chargers for calcium or hybrid/gel batteries. The charger will need to push high amperage in its initial stage of charging. I've had success with a Projecta charger and start the charging with the discharged battery and a known good battery being charged together, then after 1 hour remove the good battery. Hope this helps

thanks. looks like for now i have to use the ABC's bush mechanics method and put the battery in the embers of a fire and get it to work that way! |

"looks like for now i have to use the ABC's bush mechanics method and put the battery in the embers of a fire" AH what a crack up that show was, covered every thing from your flat battery to makeing a new clutch lining out of tree roots. But the best had to be the guy sucking the fuel out of the line at the pump on that old holden and squirting it out the gap in his teeth over into the carb.

you can replace the diodes in those chargers for about 3 bucks. takes no more than 20 minutes. I have done mine a few times, I buy old chargers that have burnt out get them cheap and just replace the diode.
