did any hq's come out originally with white bonnet/boot stripes?
if so what would the paint code have been( for the stripes)? ,,,regards dave

73 74 GTS's but only certain colours, the white strip was glacia white I believe.. |

Greetings, The white sports stripes are as mentioned Galcier White in colour. Cars painted in darker colours had the white stripes for best contrast. |

I have also seen sunburst gold metallic cars with white stipes along with cyan blue & orchid metallic, neither of which I would call dark colours.
there was a discussion about this a while ago on here, where warren gave a list of the cars that would have had the white stripes as a option to the orange & black versions, as I wanted to know if the white stripes on my HQ GTS4 in Tangarine were factory or not.. |

Greetings, To see the list of colours/stripes would be awesome. I am only going by the HQ Salesman's selling manual where it doesn't list the paint/stripe colours but mentions that darker coloured cars were available with white stripes and lighter coloured cars were available with black stripes. It doesn't mention orange stripes strangely enough, but we all know they were used as well. Unless a car has original paint on it, the stripe colour may not have been a factory application. |

The Orchid car you saw has been repainted as the factory put black paint stripes on that colour. Unless the car you are looking at is still wearing factory paint then you can be mislead as you are here. White stripes on Tangerine is not factory either regardless of interior trim colour. I have the paint chart for all this but have no idea where it is at the present. My car is a 71 model so no stripes but some of the selections listed on the chart I have never seen.

I know the white stripes on tangarine are not correct, but from speeking to the original owner, he requested when ordering the car to have the stripes deleted & for the dealership to have them done in white, as he didnt want black & hated the lone oranger stripes.... so dealer fitted I guess... the orchid car was a local one owner car in original paint with white stripes & white haired driver, this was back in the 90's, so no idea where the car is now.
but it has to be kept in mind, if you had the $$ anything was possible. |
