What type of gearbox ?

3-sp manual, 4-sp manual & Tri-Matic all use the same rear seal & they as common as. Any transmission shop will have a box full.

That's why I asked what type of gearbox. karlee didn't say what type of LJ it was. It could be a 1300 4-cyl 4-sp Vauxhall box, especially with the strange part number quoted.

i just assumed you would have 6cyl traumatic or 3 or 4spd aussie!!

best bet is to pop ya old one out & take to any reputable bearing supplier & they can supply you with a seal with double lip as per original rather than a single lip seal that is common at all supercheap outlets that ul only last thru yor RW inspection, then give you greif soon after!!!!!!
may cost you 15 - 20 bux instead of 5, but ya get what yas pay for aye??????

thanks guys. yeah its a 1760cc 4spd manual. i had the old one taken out and was wrecked. i tried heaps of bearing or seal manufacturers and no-one would even bother trying to make a duplicate of it. it's a hard one to find because it goes on the outside of the housing rather than the inside.
thanks heaps :)

karlee, seal number 97123 is the one that fits the normal 6-cyl boxes.

As you say, the Vauxhall box has a seal which fits over the outside of the extension housing. You may need to go to ebay U.K. & try there to get the correct Pommy seal.

Dr Terry could be on the money with his suggestion to go to Ebay UK. Had a quick look there, does this seal in this listing look like what you want?

karlee, your engine & gearbox are of Vauxhall origin, they are not Opel.

This might be worth a try, or contact the seller, he seems to specialise in this stuff.
