Hi Guys, does anyone have or have a mate who has a HG Panelvan with it original engine. The reason I ask is I am searching the history of my HG Van through AOMC. However the engine I thought was my original is not, so I need a sister vehicle to help locate a starting point whereby they can then check for a chasis number. All there records are by engine number.

Any help at all Thanks Mick

You don't need just a van. Any HG from the same plant with a chassis number close to your van will get you an engine number. Just be careful that the VIN on your van is from the same plant as the chassis number. Pagewood, Dandenong and Mosman Park assembled HG vans will have an Elizabeth chassis number and ADR plate, so in those cases you want a HG from the same plant as your VIN with a PSN (VIN suffix) close to yours AND it needs to have been registerd in Victoria.

OK thanks, I have an Elizabeth Chassis number and Compliance Plate.
However I have L6 in the VIN, so Mosman Park assembled.
So do I need to post my full Vin up here to have any chance of finding a similar vehicle. Is that safe.

Thanks Mick

Nothing anyone can do with it. Finding a close Mosman Park vehicle is going to be damn hard though. Leroy (Mr Jones) might be your best bet. AOMC may be of no use to you though as it was probably a WA registered car.

90% of all HG panevans were big block 1sixty1 powerhouses (lol)
i have several 161s here. you need to work out what engine number sequence your after & maybe i have one here to suit your requirements

im pulling out my original 161 HG engine in th near future to fit a V8 & it may be what youre after
