can anyone identify a engraved NOT STAMPED engine number as vr or VS PLEASE THX LES

What do you mean by engraved, do you mean hand engraved with a Dremel or similar ?? Originally they are stamped in 'dot matrix' type format.
VR & VS V6 engines look quite different, most people familiar with them could tell in 30 seconds.

thank you dr terry, my VP engine has R/S bottom end . i have a vr or vs short reco engine [sump to heads] but missing accessories ,push rods ,lifters throttle,injectors/rails etc trying to ID by engine number [little dots] i.e. N5H1267392 .cant contact last owner he is travelling outback ! burning question is : Can parts off vp fit the VR or is it VS block ????? please . thanks les . p/s what happened to World on wheels on sat morning????? u had a cult following .......

If you're looking at just the blocks, then it's real easy too - the VS onwards ecotec is about 1" shorter in the deck height compared to the VN-VR block. You don't even need a tape measure to spot the difference as it's that obvious when you look at the 2 side by side.
You can't use the VS stuff in your VP, so I hope it's not a VS motor you have.
If luck is on your side, and it's a VR engine, then the VR gear will drop straight into your VP - only difference is the VR autos have an additional sensor on the front near the water pump, that your VP doesn't, so you just leave it disconnected and it won't harm anything. |
