Passenger side blinker housing sorted. Passenger side door hardware fitted and working nicely.

41 degrees in the garage so not a lot of progress today. This little job was all I could manage. Most of it done sitting in the laundry in the air conditioning. It's an electrical thingy that will control some things that will be useful at EH ASR2017..

Radiator support panel finished. Bonnet lock modified to move remove cable connection and replace it with a lever that will be accessed through the grille. Finally I made a start on the WORST job there is when rebuilding an EH. The front quarter windows. They are impossible to pull apart. These were no exception. After 3 days of soaking and several heating and cooling cycles I got them apart. I do however need another pair as both of these are far from perfect.

Nothing to hate about that grille. Lots of imitations in the 30 years since, especially in the "mini truck" scene.

Parts back from the strippers and refitted ready for some TLC. We can smell the finish line

Cleaned up the interior today ready for the trim to go in. Finished Dynamat in the roof and tidied up the floor matting. Taped the speaker wires down. I love my green tape. Also added a second battery cutoff to allow us to isolate one battery for shows etc where the doors, radio etc may flatten the battery.

Tonight's job done and ticked off the list (which I haven't made yet), Windscreen washers are required so I had to fit them. I used an off the shelf Ford Falcon style kit. I fabricated a simple 3mm aluminium bracket that bolts to the guard brace and headlight bucket..A quick rattle can paint job and some cloth wrap on the wiring and washer hose and DONE..

A lot done on the ute but I'm feeling defeated. Not too sure if this car will ever get registered.
Firstly I sandblasted a few parts for paint TICK.
I managed to get the windscreen washer hose plumbed. We're using a stock Premier washer jet so the hose runs across the plenum lip and then through the inner guard and down to the washer bottle. TICK.
I also cut some plastic lined fabric and fixed it to the inside of the doors to keep water off the door cards. I also ran the drain tube for the air conditioning unit under the dash. It exits under the passenger side front guard. TICK.
Next job was to sort the transmission out. It's still an unknown quantity. So I start it up and after a minute or so it dies. My electric fuel pump cut off is not working. I checked all the wiring to it and that's ok. I will need to get another one sorted. So I jump this and get the pump running. Start the motor and select Drive, NOTHING. Select Reverse NOTHING. OK. I did drain about 2.5 litres out of it to fix the dipstick leak. So replace that fluid and we have gears. backward and forward on the driveway TICK.
Look underneath and there's a leak from the thermo fan sender unit on the cooler line. Go to tighten it. SNAP. Need to replace this.
Finally. The engine never shows any great oil pressure on the gauge at idle. Even when I put a master gauge on it. However it always runs well and once it gets to about 2000 rpm it shows 25PSI. I checked with a few people who are in the know and they all said not to worry, all is ok, it's a Holden V8. WELL now the top ends rattling. It's never done that EVER

ngine and gearbox have come out of the ute and been sent off for TLC. I was hoping all would be well with the low oil pressure problem but it wasn't. I'll get the engine and transmission looked at.






Oil pressure problem solved. Bent flange on the oil pickup. Transmission checked over, top gear clutch plates replaced as well as the converter bush. Regasket and reseal and it's done also..

Having the engine and gearbox out of the ute has given us a chance to sort out a few things that weren't perfect before. A bit of painting, an extra vacuum connection for the A/C and some new transmission cooler hoses and heat shielding to name a few.. Also fitted a Power Blast plate to the Holley. Had it here for a while and it will be interesting to see how much difference it really makes.
