How on earth do you get the nut onto the end of the bolt when attaching the steering member to the subframe with the giant thick rubbers you cant even squish down to see the thread!? no idea, i have two rubbers squished in the vice at the moment hoping they will stay squished but i really dont like my chances. a little help anyone?

that ud be right. yet another repro part made to fit that doesnt fit like it should. take em back to supplier & demand a refund. didnt you read th fine print on the packaging that says these are thicker, harder plastic compound rubber that wont fit properly" or did they forget to notify you b4 taking your money i have 2 more pairs of genuine NOS saddle rubbers here if ya want ones that fit (but dont have any donuts left) regards DD 0412109239 www.bellarineclassicautos.com.au

I used Rare's front suspension rubbers recently (FEK7)and had no problems what so ever.
However, I'm having a hell of a time with Rare's Bailey Channel & Door Belts.

Hi Amunro I assume with the bailey channel, you are having trouble with the windows being really tight and difficult to wind up and down. The rare spares channel is good but considerably thicker than the original, I simply carefully ground the channel down on my bench grinder to match the original, it was easy to do and only took a few minutes. I did this job recently and the windows went in easily and with a little bit of use and some silicon spray wind up and down nicely. Unless rares are selling a new type of bailey channel this is the only way of getting a good fit, as I said it's not hard to do and not worth having an argument over .

Mate I agree you don't want to have an arguement over it but I have read on a few forums about problems with the bailey channel rubber. How hard is it to get it right? That's the problem with so many businesses - near enough is good enough. |

I used silicon spray and wound the glass up and down a gazillion times, eventually it settles and you get the glass to go all the way up. I would be happy to run my car through one of those automatic car washes anytime.

Hi paech. Been travelling for a couple of weeks so haven't replied 'til now. Yep, problem was the glass was real tight in the channel. I think its front to back tightness, not sideways tightness. Was it the rubber at the back of the channel that you ground down?

Yes the rare spares bailey is virtually impossible to use being too thick, and therefore tight front to back, it will just pull the glass out of the regulator. It's best if you get a piece of original bailey channel and compare the two and then you will clearly see how much and where to use your bench grinder to take off the extra thick material. That's the way I did it. I have heard plenty of stories of guys not being able to wind the windows up and down and it is pretty average that you have to do this to fit a new replacement. However the rework wont take long, just do one first, give it a trial fit take a bit more off if you have to, you can always take more off but you can't put it back on. You will be happy with the result.

I've spoken to Dave & Lance at RSP. They were receptive to a constructive report on their products. I'm sending a sample of the Bailey Channel down to them so they can measure it up, see if it's in spec. or not.
