I have had my brake master cyinder resleaved 12 months ago,and now leaking again,have been told that this cause of stainless sleave,it wears the rubber seals out.is this true as i am changing from auto to manual in my xw.was going to resleave the clutch cylinder and clutch master cylinder or should i bye new.
Dont hide it drive it

Based on the knowledge & experience I have from my daily work with hydraulic cylinders & their seals, the material is not really a factor - it's the surface finish that chops out the seal prematurely.
A well honed & polished finish in the S/S sleeve should present no problems. A clutch master & slave are simply small scale hydraulic cylinders.
There are many examples of S/S hydraulic cylinders used in applications where mild steel or alloy is unsuitable - such as corrosive environments, and they still last well. |

thanks Mick ,now I have the heads up, I will go back to the bloke that did it and have a talk to him. the car is not driven daily,once a month if that.dont know if that has anything to do with it.I got an xd as well get driven about the same ,dont have this trouble with it .
