I have a Lumina sedan which has a water leak...each time it rains, it gets into the boot area somehow and fills up the spare tyre area. When I open the boot lid it appears that water is getting into the lid section, not sure whether it may also be coming in elsewhere. I am at a loss as to how it is getting in...the rubber seal around the boot lid looks ok. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions...Thanks

try jumping into the boot with torch at hand while some one outside with a hose simulating rain you may find it that way it might take a bit of time it could be just a case of adjusting the boot down onto the seal a bit more or you could have problems around where all the seams are could be getting in around tail light as well

Thanks for the suggestion about getting in the boot, etc...wothwhile to check out on a warm day as I am sure I will get very wet. The car hasn't been in an accident so I can rule that concern out, but thanks anyway. I would have thought that given the channel lip is fairly high that most of the water would always run out, of course it may be different if there was a heavy downpour...but it seems to come in in fairly light rainfall?? Will check it out on the weekend if i can, although they are forecasting rain!

could also be leaking around the rear screen with water it can travel from anywhere and finds its way into places you would not think it could get with the seams it should have sealer over them it could be getting under that and dripping in thats why i suggest getting in the boot and closing it with water running over it like rain its the only way you will find where its coming from could be missing a gromet somewhere you have to look for the slightest of things or just wait until i rains again or go to a car wash and go through it with you in the boot waiting for it to leak sure to find then let us know how it goes interested to see where its coming from

Also check the rear pillar where the plastic cover sits from the roof to the body join the VN`s used to leak there in the mounting holes easy fix silicon from the inside.

Hi Folks, my apologies for not letting you know what the problem was eventually...there was a rust hole under the rubber seal around middle of rear of boot lid..now been patched and all is ok. Thanks for the tip of getting in the boot and playing with hose. All the advice was much appreciated
