If I was putting in a TH700 behind an engine with 400hp, what size diameter would the tailshaft and yoke need to be?. I need to know to work out how big a tailshaft catch loop needs to be. Will 125mm internal diameter be sufficient?
Also how far is the closest from the back seal face of the TH700 box would the loop need to be, considering the accessibility and mobility of the tailshaft when put within a 125mm internal diameter loop? |

there are absolutely plenty of late model guys still using standard shaft components on a lot more than 400hp, you should get away with modifying a standard shaft to get your length. Unless its for the limo then it will probably need to be loooonger than the stocker. its for the limo isnt it lol. Edited by user Friday, 14 October 2011 11:20:41 PM(UTC)

i use HQ-HZ ute or panelvan shaft to shorten, as they are 2.5" diam & 2.5mm wall thickness, whereas HQ etc & all HKTG are 2" diam & 2mm wall thickness regards DD www.bellarineclassicautos.com.au

So for a TH700, any Turbo Yoke will suffice? The 2.5" with 2.5mm wall sounds good. I would like to know the maximum diameter of the uni joint for this unit. I assume the uni is larger than the 2.5" shaft. |

only the T350 (and T180 for the pedantic ones) will fit. the T400 anf T475 are different, and the early T375 ex pontiac is different again. so, Aussie yoke and glide and T350 what diff are you running?, i would go with the 1 tonner tailshaft and shorten the diff end. These tonner tailshafts are larger diameter than the holden HQ-WB V8 and stato tailshafts. your spacing to the yoke flange to housing will have to be at least 2 .5 cm i think. longer for 4WD with more tailshaft travel forward to back.
