Thanks for that.Could there be a couple of months difference in dates between the motor, steering box (march) and car dates by the time the monaro hts the showroom floor? Warren said my monaro is a april/may 70. this engine looks like a match for mine. Can you tell which factory the motor was released to like the chevy?

No i do believe they just grabbed what was allocated at the time at the foundry.

That is correct, they are the same sequence for all plants for HT-HG 253/308. If the car is a 1970 it will have an ADR plate that will tell you the month/year the ADR plate was affixed which will gine the a ballpark for an engine number.

Thanks guys. ADR plate missing which was ok for the 69 model as i thought i brought. ID, vin and Wall match which have helped me find out it is round april/may 70 gts. This May motor with the correct heads sounds right for my rig i recon.
When will it end? LOL

If it is April or May 1970 then it has to have an ADR plate. My guess is it is a 1969 build.
