Hey guys. Just a quick note. My neighbor has a ef 1994 Gil six. It seems to be hunting at idle. The car runs fine but when she comes to a intersection it stalls. The car iS on gas but has un even idle on petrol too. Can anyone shed some light. She is a single mum and cant really afford to keep going to mechanics. I'm trying to help her out but I'm not up on these cars. I thought mayb vacuum leak??

Your knowledge and pointers would be appreciated greatly.

Could be a vacuum leak. It could also be the map sensor on the other hand it could just be that the IAC and/or throttle body needs a clean.

If you give it a rev in neutral does it drop way below idle, almost stall and then settle into an idle when you lift the foot?

Try the idle stepper motor, it fixed mine on gas with the same problem.

This is what it looks like:

Sits on top of the throttle body and is an easy repair, about 5 min.
Stepping stone or stumbling block...your choice

Yep that's the IAC. Cheaper to try and clean the IAC with a $10 can of carby cleaner before replacing it. The air ducts in them can block with crud.
