removing swaybars could make your cars handling unsafe, upgrading could improve handling.

Not strictly true, sway bars are not the be all & end all. I'm glad you included the term 'could'. I'm not advocating removing otherwise standard bars, but have a look at some of the factory Holden set-ups of the past. When RTS first came in, they fitted big bars all round & heavier shocks & springs (HZ & VB). Most feedback was positive but many complained of harshness & oversteer etc. The WB & VC saw improvements, with the VC wagon having the rear bar deleted & the front bar increased in diameter, along with changes to springs & shocks etc. These cars definitely handled better than the VB equivalent & ride quality also improved. I see so many cars in my workshop were the owner has wasted a motsa on the wrong combination of springs, shocks, sway bars, large diameter wheels & low profile tyres making their cars all but un-drivable & destroying the 'balance' that was there when it left the factory. Sure a professional job will sometimes improve things but by & large, they are worse than original. Flak jacket on, waiting for response. Dr Terry |
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

Haha, I really enjoyed that closing statement ;) I guess I'll just leave my Astra as stock as far as the steering goes(I know, Astra, what a nancy) I like it though, handles good and quite fuel economic. |
